YO I’M JOEY A.K.A. DJ PANIC A.K.A. NOBUNAGA

My story is about music that I play and dance to. When I started DJ-ing six years ago it opened up a new door for me. It started when my uncle took me to a record shop and showed me some records. There was this one record that I fell in love with. I bought the record without having a turntable… The record had been laying in the corner of room for about six months. One day my stepfather asked if I needed a turntable for this record which was dying in the corner of my room.. And I answered immediately: ‘Yes!’ I couldn’t remember what the song was like so I definitely wanted a turntable.

From the moment that I put that record on my new turntable I knew that I was going to be a DJ with hard beats and crazy music. Searching for records became a daily thing ’till nowadays. After 6 years of DJ-ing I can tell that I played on big events such as: THE NOTORIOUS IBE/UK CHAMPS/EUROBATTLE/FLOORWARS/EVOLUTION/FUNKIN STYLES GERMANY/JUSTE DEBOUT AMSTERDAM, and much more.

My music is different, because when I play I always come with new sounds that bring dancers to a whole other level. I want them to feel what I feel when I hear a certain song. To me, music is everything. It’s like food. I need it and if I can’t have it there will be nothing left for me. When I find new music it must touch me from the very first second. This is also how I play my music. You will be banging your head from the very first second you hear it.

The highest music for me is Funk, Jazz and Soul. That is where I get my inspiration from. I started playing on Bboy events 2 years ago and after that I got more interest in other music than Bboy music, like DUBSTEP, DRUM&BASS, HOUSE, LATIN, AFRO, ELECTRIC, HIPHOP and other nameless music. Searching for these beats takes a long time, because I only want to play the best and hardest songs of these categories.
I already made  2 mixtapes with my DJ partner LU-CHI’SZ called: EXTRAORDINARY BREAKS, and THE BALANCE. Together we are the bomb collectors, lol. We throw bombs at every jam.
We also have two other new DJ’s called C-MENT and ARTIZTIK. These guys are crazy so they definitely belong in our crew. In 2010 I wanted to make a good start with music. I made a mixtape with only the songs that really have a meaning to me. Songs which tell a story. That’s why I called it: ‘MUSIC IS MY RELIGION’. You can chill, dance or do whatever you want to do with it. In this mixtape you can listen to different styles of music.

I know The Kulture Kids for a year now and I know and I can see that they’re doing good things. They are open-minded and there are not so many crews like them. When I play my music I always see how they feel and react to my music. And that’s the most important thing to me. How people react to my music and how they feel it. That inspires me through the journey of my expedition.
